Types of chillers

There are a variety of chillers available and they can range between 1 to 1,000 tonnes of coiling energy. A chiller can come in any form including air, water or an evaporative condensed chiller. However, there are four subcategories including reciprocating, centrifugal, screw-driven and absorption chillers. How chillers work

In many cooling applications, a pumping system is used to circulate a cool water solution from the chiller to the process. This eliminates all the heat from the process and then the warm fluid returns back to the chiller.

Depending on the required temperatures, there are many types of refrigerant and applications; however, they all work around the same principle of compression from a liquid to a gas and then returns back to a liquid.

The refrigeration cycle begins with a low-pressure liquid/gas mix entering the evaporator. Inside, heat the process water solution so it boils the refrigerant. This will alter it from a low-pressure liquid to a low-pressure gas. The low-pressure gas enters the compressor where it is compacted to high-pressure gas. The high-pressure gas enters the condenser where ambient air or condenser water subtracts heat to cool it to a high-pressure liquid. The high-pressure liquid then goes to the expansion valve, which controls how much liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator, ultimately beginning the refrigeration cycle all over again.
