Haynes
Friends......
It is always
surprising to me how many people actually visit the Haynes Village website
from distances afar. Most obviously have an interest and would find
the site by looking for "Haynes Village" on the Google search
engine.
Due to popular
demand, I thought it would be good to add this "Haynes Friends"
site - which contains messages from people who have lived in Haynes,
or have a special interest in us Haynes people.

Cherith & John Cook

Cherith & John Cook, 1949 McGee Side Road, Carp, Ontario.....
Haynes
has to be the prettiest village in Bedfordshire! We lived at #1 Longden
Close from 1970 until 1973, when we emigrated to Canada. John worked
for George Kent in Luton, Cherith taught the Reception Class at Haynes
Lower school. Our two children, David and Elizabeth were 6 and 4 respectively
when we came to Canada. They now have a much younger brother, Daniel,
who was born in 1980. He visited Haynes when we came to stay with Joan
and Maurice Tearle, with whom we still keep in touch. John now works
for the Canadian Space Agency in Montreal, Cherith teaches Grade One
(6 year olds). We often recall our brief, but very happy stay in the
village. David is now married with two beautiful children Rebecca and
Jordan. Found a girl from Hertfordshire! Elizabeth is married to a Canadian
Airman, so they have lived from coast to coast. Thay are now a mere
2 hours drive away. They have two great children, Meghan and Johnathan.
Dan, our youngest is still at home !.
Does anyone remember Sukey the Irish Settter who used to lie in the
middle of the road? Local traffic, such as there was in those days,
would know to slow down and drive round her! Well she inspired our choice
of breed. We now have two Setters.
We'd love to hear from anyone who might remember us from way back
when. Anyone who was in my class? I still hear from Joanne; she
brougt her boyfriend to stay with us, and Stephen once came for a visit.
Is
the WI still active? Had much fun with THAT crew I can tell you. Mind
you we were all in our late 20's. Can't see a repeat performance of
Don't Bring Lulu in a red chequered nightie these days.
To
contact John and Cherith, email
them by clicking on their names. (update: I'm not sure this email address
will work anymore - it was first given to me back in 2001)
